In their words
What our members say
“A text said Australia Post couldn't deliver my parcel and wanted a $2.95 redelivery fee. I was actually expecting something, so it nearly got me. They replied before I'd finished my cuppa — it was fake, and they showed me how to track the real one.”
— Barbara, South Yarra “Someone rang from my bank's 'fraud team' saying my savings needed moving to a safe account. They knew my name and the last digits of my card. I said I'd call back and rang the team instead. They told me no bank ever asks you to move money, and helped me ring the number on my card.”
— Graham, Brighton “Mum lives in Wheelers Hill and she's sharp, but far too polite to hang up on anyone. Now she forwards anything that worries her and gets a plain-English answer quickly. The monthly summary means I know what's going around without nagging her.”
— Priya, Glen Waverley — pays for her mother's plan “An email from the 'ATO' said I was owed a $780 refund and just needed to confirm my bank details. They told me the Tax Office doesn't send links like that, and showed me how to check my real tax details through myGov instead.”
— Dorothy, Armadale “I was selling my old golf clubs on Marketplace and the buyer sent an email saying PayID needed me to pay $300 to 'upgrade' my account. Something felt off, so I sent it in. They explained the whole trick and said cash on pickup only. The clubs sold the next weekend — properly.”
— Ken, Melbourne “A man rang about a government energy rebate and said I only had to pay a $199 deposit to secure it. I told him I'd think about it and sent the details to the team. They found no such rebate and told me exactly what to say if he rang back. He didn't.”
