Change your home Wi-Fi password

A strong Wi-Fi password stops strangers using your internet.

Steps

  1. Look on the sticker on your modem/router for the admin address (often 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1), username and password.
  2. On a computer connected to your Wi-Fi, type that address into your web browser.
  3. Log in with the details from the sticker.
  4. Find Wireless or Wi-Fi settings and change the Wi-Fi password to a long phrase.
  5. Find Administration and change the admin password from the default.
  6. Reconnect your phone, tablet and TV with the new Wi-Fi password.

This one is fiddly — we're very happy to do it with you in a session.
