Save your passwords safely on an Android phone

Google Password Manager is built in to Android phones and is free.

Google Password Manager remembers your passwords and fills them in for you.

Steps

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Google, then Autofill (on some phones: Passwords & autofill), then Google Password Manager.
  3. You'll see passwords already saved in your Google Account.
  4. To add one, tap + Add, choose the website, and type your username and password.
  5. When you log in to a website or app, your phone will offer to fill in your password.

Good habits

  • Tap Checkup to find weak or reused passwords, and change them one at a time.
  • Turn on screen lock (PIN or fingerprint) so nobody else can open your passwords.
