Turn on two-step login for your email

Two-step login means a criminal who guesses your password still can't get into your email.

Your email is the key to all your other accounts, so protect it first.

Gmail

  1. On a computer, go to myaccount.google.com (type it yourself).
  2. Choose Security, then 2-Step Verification, then Get started.
  3. Follow the steps. Google will usually ask you to tap Yes on your phone when you log in from somewhere new.

Outlook / Hotmail

  1. Go to account.microsoft.com and log in.
  2. Choose Security, then Manage how I sign in (or Advanced security options).
  3. Turn on Two-step verification and follow the steps.

iCloud Mail

Two-step login (called two-factor authentication) is usually on already. Check in Settings → [your name] → Sign-In & Security.

Telstra / Bigpond and others

Look for Security or Sign-in settings in your account, or book a SteadyCheck session and we'll do it with you.

If anyone asks you for the code you receive, it is a scam. Hang up.
