Bank "move your money to a safe account" calls

A caller says they're from your bank's fraud team and asks you to move money or read out a code. Your bank will never do this.

What it looks like

A call or text about a suspicious payment, then a caller who sounds professional and knows a little about you.

We've blocked a payment of $1,249.00 from your account. If this wasn't you, call our fraud team now.

A made-up example — not a real message, not a real link.

How to spot it

  • They ask you to move money to a "safe" account
  • They ask for a code sent to your phone
  • They tell you not to talk to anyone

What to do

  1. Hang up
  2. Call your bank on the number on the back of your card
  3. Never read out a code to anyone
