Scam of the weekToll roadPretends to be: Linkt27 Oct 2026

Fake unpaid toll texts are everywhere right now

A text says you owe a small toll and will be fined unless you pay through a link. It's a scam to steal your card details.

What it looks like

A text from a short number or an unknown mobile, saying you have an unpaid toll of a few dollars and a large late fee is coming.

Linkt: You have an unpaid toll of $8.45. Pay today to avoid a $185 late fee. [link removed]

A made-up example — not a real message, not a real link.

How to spot it

  • It threatens a big fine for a small amount
  • The link isn't the toll company's real website
  • You may not even have driven on a toll road

What to do

  1. Don't click the link
  2. Delete the text
  3. If you're worried, log in to your toll account the way you normally do
